The History of the Myrtle Beach Wedding Chapel

We are so excited to share our history with you! This month we celebrate the start of The Myrtle Beach wedding chapel. The dream began when the Martin’s lived near Charlotte, North Carolina in 2004 and people would come to Pastor Martin to have him perform their wedding ceremonies. This gave them an opportunity to begin a new journey full of sandy beaches and salt water kisses! It was then the Myrtle beach wedding Chapel started in July 2006. It is a family owned and operated business by the Martins. Richard did the ceremonies and his wife Teresa was the secretary and photographer. Rich still does the ceremonies and Teresa is still the secretary, Dustin Gilder is the staff photographer.  He is a professional photographer that has been with us for over 5 years. He loves the camera and will take lots of pictures to capture your day. He is also a professional videographer and TV producer. He currently has a show on NBCSports network called “Traveling Golfer.” The first wedding chapel was in downtown Myrtle Beach in a small 10×15 building. We have been in several locations around Myrtle Beach and are currently located in the Little River/North Myrtle Beach area.

We are the only chapel with an actual building in the North Myrtle Beach area, which is great for the rainy days or a reception hall. The space can also be rented for any social occasion! The hall can accommodate up to 100 guests. Some previous occasions have included receptions, birthday parties, baby showers, anniversary parties, business meetings, family gatherings, reunions, just to name a few event ideas. The building is beautiful with its rustic barn doors, elegant decorations, tables and chairs included with access to many rental decoration options to make your special day complete. Even though we have this beautiful hall available we are also known for our enchanting beach ceremonies.

Get to know us!

Pastor Richard Martin and his lovely bride Teresa Martin have been married 40 years this July 31st. Tradition states the 40th wedding anniversary gift theme is ruby. The inner fire of a ruby is thought to represent the burning flame of passion in the hearts of a couple who have been together 40 years. The 40th wedding anniversary is a great time to have a vow renewal which the chapel takes great pride in officiating. Pastor Rich and Teresa’s wedding song was “Whither thou goest” by Leonard Cohen. They met in Beaufort county. They have two sons who have both been married through the Myrtle Beach wedding chapel and four beautiful grandchildren. Until recently Pastor Rich pastored churches in the Church of God denomination. He is currently focusing on the wedding chapel and internet ministry.
